What MacOSX version do you have? If you have version 10.11 or newer it will work, see below:

The Powershell modules and functionality is still limited, I would recommend using either BootCamp with dual boot on the Mac or use Parallels to have a Windows 10 or Windows 7 virtual machine and manage office 365 with Powershell. There are many things you can do without Powershell but it is good to have it for cases when The web interface does not work as you need it.

I am trying for many days now to get things done with PowerShell on a Mac. Installation of HomeBrew and PowerShell (7) is not a problem. I can also add modules, e.g. To work with Teams. PowerShell works great on Mac OS X. It’s my default shell. I usually only do things the Posh way, but sometimes the underlying system bubbles back up. Like when I’m writing git hooks. In Posh, git hooks live in the same place and still have to be executable on your platform. That doesn’t change. But, the scripts themselves can be different. Powershell is now the default shell, but we are not finished yet. When bash is launched on macOS, the first thing executed is /etc/profile. If you didn’t know, Powershell isn’t exclusive to Windows anymore – you can actually run a basic set of Powershell features, called Powershell Core, on Mac OS and Linux as well. But there’s a problem. By default, running the “pwsh” command just starts Powershell Core in a regular terminal window.

There are two tricky little problems when setting your pathvariable in PowerShell. Here’s how to get past them.

First, lots of guides show things like this: Reinstalling os on mac.

Which works on Windows but won’t work on OS X. The variable name has to be all-caps:

Next, the separator between path elements on Windows is ;, but on OS X it’s :. Swap them and you should be good to go:

Small details, but they were remarkably fiddly to figure out the first time I ran in to them. Lots of people use Posh on Windows, so lots of guides and docs won’t work on Mac. You may find similar compatibility problems in scripts, too. Hopefully this saves you from some frustration.
